The Grey NATO – 239 – The Watches You Asked Us To Talk About
This week the boys are back to chat about several watch brands and models that the TGN Slack Crew requested as topics. Since Jason and ... James can’t possibly cover everything that’s of interest, we asked the Crew what watches have been missing from the show and dedicated an episode to filling in some of the blanks. From Christopher Ward to Tag Heuer, new Rolex, Ressence, Longines, and Damasko, it was a blast to discover some new watches, and we thank the Crew for helping to shape this episode.
Christopher Ward doesn't do luxury. Tool watches, yes. Innovative complications, of course. Value for money, most certainly. But luxury - with its show-off implications and forced scarcity - we've largely shied away from. If we were to approach this world at all, it would be on our own terms. Well, we did.
(+41) 22 557 41 41 9am - 6pm Tuesday to Friday and 2pm - 6pm on Saturday The Antarctique combines sophisticated style and look with a genuine in-house power movement bound to stake a major claim in the popular sport-chic segment.
The A-13A Pilot Watch is a tool, it serves the sole purpose of telling the time in the most accurate, reliable, legible way possible. Both as a timepiece and as a chronograph. It is designed to be robust and to keep out dust and water; it's made to last.
In our continued effort to find thin and versatile sport watches we were quite happy to see that the recently refreshed Tag Heuer Aquaracer line up still had a 300m model that retained the classic good looks and modest sizing seen on Tag Heuer's of the past.
The TYPE 3 engages with physics like no watch before. The refraction of light as it moves from one substance to another can distort perception. The TYPE 3 cancels this effect through its upper half being flooded with 3.75 ml of oil.
LIGHTNESS AND PERFORMANCE Rather than protecting the TYPE 5 against the pressure of water depth by using a heavy over-sized case and thick glasses, we used our oil technology. Since the laws of hydraulics state that a liquid cannot be compressed, the oil will compensate for underwater pressure.
When Longines announced the Legend Diver back in 2007, they were among the first big name brands on the trend of producing vintage-inspired sport watches that specifically set out to capture the appeal of vintage models while offering the benefits of modern production.

Historically, Longines has accompanied legendary pioneers as they conquer air, land and sea. Today, the winged hourglass brand has drawn inspiration from this heritage to create Longines Spirit, a collection with an impeccable pedigree.
In 1933, Alpina set the standards of the modern sports watch by unveiling its Alpina4 timepiece: antimagnetic, antishock, water-resistant and stainless steel. True to the Maison's DNA, the current Alpiner collection presents strong and sturdy watches that can resist the toughest conditions whilst remaining pure and easy to wear.

Why This Watch Matters The Explorer II is a fantastic tool watch, as you'd expect to see from Rolex, but it offers a fairly unique design. The Full Story The reference 1655 was engineered for a very narrow market in mind: cave explorers.
Evolution 9 Collection CAD 10,900.00 This "go-anywhere" Spring Drive GMT watch looks as good at the office as it does at home but has a dial that is inspired by the landscape where it was created. It has a delicately textured surface pattern that echoes the morning mist that envelops the mountains of Nagano, the home of Spring Drive, in winter.
Ref. 3717 was the 206 successor to the classic 3706. Its case was updated to 42 and both dial and hands got a make-over, while the movement remained unchanged. The present example is fitted with an alligator strap.
